Gerald, "Wayne" as he was affectionately known; was born March 8, 1961, in Natchez, MS. to Charles Gerald Nettles and Jeanette Savoy Nettles.

"Wayne" had a bigger than life personality. He loved the outdoors, riding his motorcycle, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. "Wayne" was the type of person who never met a stranger and made friends easily. 'Wayne" definitely was a firecracker, he fought bravely and courageously against cancer for three years. "Wayne" was a very loved man by all. Sadly "Wayne's" battle with cancer came to an end on Wednesday, March 27th, surrounded by all his loved ones.

"Wayne" was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Jeanette Nettles; favorite uncle, Carol Nettles; and a great nephew, Gage Lee Nettles.

"Wayne" leaves to cherish his memories, his loving fiancé, Heather Johnese; one daughter, Mandy Nettles; one son, Gerald Wayne "Little Wayne" Nettles Jr.; one step-daughter, Savanah Johnese; one brother, Mike Nettles and his wife Barbara; two step-grandchildren, Noah and Isabelle; three nephews, Christopher Nettles and wife Cameron, Micheal Nettles and Ryan Nettles; one niece, Noell Nettles; great-nephews, Christopher "Bug" Nettles, Ayden Nettles and Josh Evans; one great-niece, Chassity Evans; several special family members, Linda and Ray Smedley, Susan and Leslie Givens, Danielle Roberts, Michael and Nathan Smedley, and Vickki Perry; other relatives and friends.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Amanda Heathcoat, to all the doctors and nurses at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center of Baton Rouge, LA and Compassus Hospice.
