Funeral services for Emma Ruth Winston Sewell, 83, of Natchez, who died on Friday, February 3, 2023, in Natchez, will be on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at 3PM at Zion Flower Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. LeRoy White officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 3 until 5PM at the funeral home and will continue on Sunday from 2PM until the time of service at the church.
Emma was born on September 17, 1939, to Ernest "Ford" Griffin and Mary Rose Winston. She was a 1959 graduate of Sadie V. Thompson School. She was a domestic worker for many years and took great pride in her work. She confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Zion Flower Missionary Baptist Church.
Emma was a member of the Good Samaritan Society. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was an avid viewer of game shows, especially Family Feud, hosted by Steve Harvey.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 33 years, Henry James Sewell, Sr., brother Tommy Winston Sr., three uncles and one aunt.
Emma leaves to cherish her memories; children, Judy (Albert) Johnson, Shirley Rose (Charlie) Gooden, Beverly Gaylor, Margurite Daniels, Henry (Barbara) Sewell, Jr., Roosevelt Sewell, Henderson Jack Sewell, William Henry Skinner, Bozel (Susie) Sewell, and Edgar James (Cynthia) Marsaw; grandsons, Jerald (Jessica) Johnson and Jourdan Johnson; sister, Doris Winston Jointer; special cousins, Allen Winston Sr., Inetta Givens, Bessie Winston, and Florine Brunt; nephews, Michael (Teresa) Gines, Adrian Gines, Tommy (Pavielle) Winston Jr.; nieces, Jessica (Kent) Lewis and Courtney Winston; and, a host of great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
