Gloster – July 23, 1947 – July 25, 2020
Graveside services for Edith Mae Bates, 73, of Gloster, MS, who passed away on July 25, 2020, in Centreville will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at Big Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. with visitation from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the cemetery and officiated by Rev. Clint Ross under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Walk-through visitation services will be held on Friday, July 31, at the Lighthouse Center in Meadville from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Please be advised all visitors are required to wear masks and will not be permitted entry without them. There is a maximum of 20 people allowed in the chapel. Visitors will be rotated out.
Edith was born on July 23, 194 7, in Gloster, MS, to Hollis Sr and Nannie Bates.
She was preceded in death by both her parents.
She is survived by one son, Sam Bates of Gloster, MS; seven sisters: Earnestine (Leevon) Caston, Aline (John) Walker, Bertha (Randolph) Weathersby, and Christine Anderson all of Gloster, MS, Dorthy (Late Henry) Turner of Woodville, MS, Yvonne (Late Woodrow Sibley) of McComb, MS, and Saddie Bates of Centreville, MS; one brother, Hollis Bates Jr. of Gloster, MS; . A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church members and friends.
